Rousseau Inspired Jungle Scenes
Fourth grade students learned about the artist Henri Rousseau. We looked at several jungle scenes that Rousseau painted. Rousseau never actually went to a jungle to paint. He would go to zoos and botanical gardens in Paris. After these visits, he would use his imagination to create his own jungles. Sometimes he would paint animals that never existed and invented trees and flowers. Like Rousseau fourth grade students created a jungle from their imaginations.
Clay Animals
Students used white clay to make an animal. Each student started with 2 pinch pots for the body and practiced "scoring and slipping". I loved that each one was so unique. All clay projects will be home for the holidays :).
